CM Yogi Adityanath Leads Grand Tiranga Yatra in Lucknow on 101st Kakori Anniversary
Lucknow, August 9, 2026: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday led a massive Tiranga Yatra from his official residence at 5, Kalidas Marg to the Vidhan Bhavan as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
The march marked the 101st anniversary of the Kakori Train Action of 1925 and formed a key event ahead of the 80th Independence Day celebrations. Thousands of youths, estimated between 25,000 and 30,000, joined the procession along with senior leaders.
Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, Uttar Pradesh BJP President Pankaj Chaudhary, and several cabinet ministers and party workers participated in the yatra. Participants carried the national tricolour and raised slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Vande Mataram.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tributes to the martyrs of the Kakori Train Action, including Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqulla Khan, Thakur Roshan Singh and Rajendra Nath Lahiri. He described the occasion as a sacred anniversary and stated that the BJP was organising Tiranga Yatras across the country to express gratitude to the freedom fighters.
The Chief Minister emphasised the need to respect national symbols, the national anthem and the national song. He asserted that those who insult these symbols and great personalities cannot be allowed to live in India. He urged the youth to channel their talent and energy towards nation-building and to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and soldiers.
Highlighting the importance of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, Adityanath credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for amending the Flag Code, which now enables every citizen to display the tricolour at their homes. He recalled that earlier, people had to approach courts to secure the right to hoist the national flag at residences. He called upon all citizens to participate actively in the campaign leading up to August 15.
Following the yatra, the Chief Minister was scheduled to visit the Kakori Shaheed Smarak to offer floral tributes to the martyrs.
The event reflected the growing participation of youth in patriotic initiatives under the ongoing Har Ghar Tiranga drive in Uttar Pradesh.
