Protests Outside Dy CM Pathak’s Residence Over Stipends, Pharmacist Posts and Hospital Pay
Separate groups of AYUSH intern doctors, pharmacist recruitment aspirants and outsourced hospital staff staged protests outside the Lucknow residence of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Tuesday, seeking stipend parity, faster hiring and better pay.
Reports said the arrival of multiple groups briefly raised the temperature outside the residence before Pathak came out to meet them.
Who protested and what they want
Students of the National Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital said their stipend has stayed at Rs 7,500 a month since 2011, while MBBS and BDS peers studying alongside them received two hikes in the same period. They want the stipend revised to match other medical streams.
UPSSSC pharmacist aspirants demanded recruitment for 564 posts, more vacancies, and an early start to the process. Outsourced employees from Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (Civil) Hospital also protested, seeking salary increases among other demands.
Dy CM’s response
After being informed, Pathak met the protesters, heard their grievances and assured them the demands would be looked into with efforts toward an early resolution. For Lucknow’s medical and paramedical aspirants, the meeting keeps pressure on stipend and recruitment timelines that have dragged for years.
