Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was wanted by the Indian government, met his demise in a deliberate shooting incident that took place in Surrey, Canada. Nijjar was associated with the Khalistani movement.
The Indian government recently released a list of designated terrorists, which included the name of Hardeep Singh Nijjar along with 40 other individuals. Nijjar’s inclusion in the list signifies the government’s recognition of his alleged involvement in terrorist activities.
In 2022, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) offered a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to the capture of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. He was accused of conspiring to assassinate a Hindu priest in Jalandhar, Punjab. The conspiracy was orchestrated by the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), with Nijjar serving as its chief while residing in Canada.
Prior to this, the NIA had filed a chargesheet against Nijjar in a separate case involving conspiracy to commit terrorist acts against India.
