Daylight Shooting Shocks Gomti Nagar: Bank Official Killed by Husband in Triple Tragedy
A shocking incident of violence unfolded in the upscale Gomti Nagar area of Lucknow on Thursday afternoon when a man allegedly shot dead his estranged wife, a relationship manager at an ICICI Bank branch, before killing his sister and himself.
According to police officials, the accused, identified as Manas Bajpai, arrived outside the ICICI Bank branch in Vivek Khand and called his wife, Divya Mishra, outside the premises. After a brief conversation, he opened fire, striking her multiple times. Divya Mishra was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Bajpai then fled the scene and proceeded to his residence in the Husadiya area. There, he locked himself inside a room with his sister and allegedly shot her before turning the firearm on himself. Police recovered three weapons from the house. The sequence of events was confirmed by senior officers who reached both crime scenes promptly.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the couple had been engaged in divorce proceedings for nearly a year. A WhatsApp status message, purportedly posted by the accused, stated that his wife had cheated on him and indicated his intention to end his life along with that of his sister. Crime Branch teams are currently examining closed-circuit television footage from the bank vicinity and collecting forensic evidence.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Amol Murkut and DCP East Dr. Diksha Sharma provided initial details, emphasising that the investigation is ongoing and all aspects of the domestic dispute are under scrutiny. The incident has caused widespread concern among residents of the posh locality, which is known for its commercial establishments and residential complexes.
Lucknow police have appealed for public cooperation and urged citizens to remain calm while the probe continues. This tragedy underscores the challenges associated with unresolved domestic conflicts in urban settings.
In a related context of effective police investigations in the city, a recent case saw a missing teenager traced after five months through advanced digital tracking methods. Details of that successful effort can be found here.
Additionally, law enforcement agencies recently demonstrated coordinated action in clearing illegal dairies in the Para area, where heavy police and PAC deployment resulted in the removal of nearly 200 buffaloes following an attack on the civic team. Further information is available in the detailed report.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation, and further updates will be shared as the investigation progresses.
