Food Valley
Food Valley, in Lucknow in 2026, is the LDA food street on the Gomti riverfront in Gomti Nagar. It sits on Asha Jyoti Lane, between Samatamulak Chowk and Prateek Sthal. It is the old Chatori Gali, rebuilt under a tensile shed. It is not a secret second plaza, not a restaurant with that name in Aashiyana, and not the food court at Lulu Mall or Phoenix Palassio. You come to walk, eat, and let children roam a little, then step onto the riverfront.
History
Chatori Gali was the older eating lane here, the one college students still mention. In 2025 LDA retendered it as Food Valley: about 42 food and beverage brands, ten shop units of 40 to 80 square metres plus a larger 220-square-metre outlet, a five-year operations contract with a private consortium from Delhi and Lucknow, and an annual return to the authority reported near 95 lakh rupees. Times of India in May 2025 described a tensile shed with air-mist cooling meant to hold indoor air around 22 to 26 degrees, a 400 KVA transformer and dedicated pumps. Knocksense, that April, added a children’s play zone with a toy train in the plan, and a revival of long-vacant shops.
By mid-November 2025 the place was open. Times of India on 15 November 2025 wrote of it as a new address already in use, with veg and non-veg zones, galawati sliders and the usual mix of dosa, vada pav, momos and Chinese on the copy, and families on the walking street. LDA vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar spoke of more Food Valley-style setups later, including in the old city. Those are plans. This page is this lane. Vishnu Gupta, named in that TOI piece as the developer, spoke of bouncers, CCTV and a traffic-free street. Believe the crowd on a Saturday. Confirm the play zone still runs.
What to do
Eat. Walk the lane. The design is a no-vehicle street with seating, not a food court tray line. Outlets mix Awadhi plates with the national snack brands that fill every new Indian plaza. Dedicated vegetarian and non-vegetarian sides were part of the opening pitch; look for the signs rather than assuming. Children use the play pocket if it is open. Then walk the river. That is the local evening: plate, then promenade. Lohia Park is close if you want a lake after the spice. Ambedkar Memorial Park is the stone walk. Do not treat this as Hazratganj food. The Ganj is still the Ganj. This is Gomti Nagar’s river lane.
LDA has talked of repeating the idea at Janeshwar Mishra Park, at Rashtra Prerna Sthal, and in the old city. Until those open, do not pin them on a map. There is one Food Valley that Lucknow means in 2026, and it is this riverfront street.
Visiting
Entry is free. You pay for food. We did not find an LDA clock for the whole valley on 28 August 2026. Individual stalls keep their own hours. The habit is evening, especially weekends, when the riverfront also fills. Some kitchens may lift shutters in the afternoon. A 7 am to 11 pm listing belongs to a different business that happens to use the words food valley in Aashiyana; ignore it. Confirm on the lane which shutters are up. The street is meant to stay traffic-free, with parking off the walking spine. Follow the marshals if they are there.
Asha Jyoti Lane, Samatamulak Chowk, Prateek Sthal, Gomti Nagar riverfront: any of those will get an auto close. App cabs know Food Valley now. Metro is not at the table. Winter evenings are the comfortable hour. May still works because of the mist cooling, which is why LDA spent on it. Carry cash and a UPI app. Carry the children you meant to bring; it is built as a family street, not a late bar strip. If a stall is closed, walk on. Forty-odd boards were the plan, not a promise that all forty cook every Tuesday.

The Gomti Riverfront is the same outing. Phoenix Palassio is the mall on Shaheed Path if you want shops after. Lulu Mall is further out in Golf City. Lohia Park and Ambedkar Memorial Park are the walks. Janeshwar Mishra Park is the big inland lawn. For a wider list see Lucknow places.
